Congratulations in order... 07/25/2009
![]() Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. Bill Emge! Bill and his new wife Becky were joined in matrimony Saturday afternoon, July 25 in New Albany, Indiana at the home of Bill's parents. Bill, whom you may remember for his brief stint in the early days of Probably Uncalled For as co-host of the now-defunct Weekend Edition, is a long-time friend and collaborator here at Free Rein Media, as well as a recent addition to the partnership structure, and we wish him and Becky nothing but the best as they start this new phase of their life together. ![]() by ppdingles All I wanted was one magazine and some snack cakes. But it's 11:30 at night and that means there is only one fucking place to go...WAL-MART! The first of three reasons not to shop there is the toothless, acne face whore with two little bastards running around. She doesn't even look smart enough to tie her shoes yet she is dragging her litter all over the store at almost midnight. Second, The place is packed as usual with people who think they are saving money and living better and there is only 5 check lanes open. So of course shit is moving slow while I watch about 7 other employees standing around with a thumb up their ass. But I probably wouldn't give a shit either if I was paid like they are. Finally, I'm in the "Speedy Checkout" lane which is totally bullshit! The sign says 10 items or less so of course this fat gangster wannabe sweating brown gravy who is holding up the line has a fucking cart full of shit. So guess what the cashier does...she rings his ass up. In the end it took me 25 fucking minutes.....yes you heard me right, 25 FUCKING MINUTES to get through the fucking Speedy Checkout lane and to top it off the whore with the two brats made it out the exit door before I did. ![]() by Thomas Keister WWE Superstars offered fans three solid matches as Night of Champions quickly approaches, highlighted by ECW Championship contender Christian. Rounding out the action was a fine showcase between two cruiserweight talents, and John Morrison looking to continue the roll he's been on as of late. ECW's Christian and William Regal Electrify Crowd Opening the evening's action, Christian found himself across the ring from the seasoned veteran, William Regal, but his mind was definitely focused in on his title bout with ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer in a mere three days. Regal, still stinging from his loss to newcomer Yoshi Tatsu Tuesday night on ECW, was out to right the ship at all costs, and a win over Christian would assuredly bump up Regal's stock as a potential contender for the ECW Championship. In a contest chock-full of technical offense by William Regal, Christian looked a step behind throughout, and one could speculate his focus was a bit off. Regal turned his offense up to 11, answering every attempt by his opponent to get back into the match. In an exciting and unexpected finish, Christian rallied back for the victory, hitting a middle-rope Sunset Flip for the pinfall. The lack of focus Christian fought through tonight could serve to be his undoing, should it come back Sunday at Night of Champions, and ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer was no doubt scouting this encounter, looking for a weakness to exploit. Raw's Bourne, Noble Showcase Speed, Technical Prowess For wrestling fans who consider themselves purists, the Monday Night Raw offering of Evan "Air" Bourne versus Jamie Noble harkened back to the days of the Cruiserweight division. While those days are long gone, this match featuring Bourne, an exciting high-flyer and Noble, a technically-grounded former Cruiserweight Champion on numerous occasions, had all the trimmings of a mat classic. Noble put up a game effort, often relying on his at-times relentless offense, but in the end, Bourne's aerial arsenal proved to be too much to handle, and Noble finished his evening looking at the lights as Bourne gained the three-count following his "Airbourne" shooting star press. SmackDown Main Event features Kane Battling Morrison Kane, who has looked dominant since his re-emergence onto the SmackDown scene (when not facing off with The Great Khali, that is), looked to make a statement by imposing his physical will on the red-hot John Morrison in main event action. Morrison, who has not lost a step since parting ways with tag team championship partner The Miz, has positioned himself on the edge of the World Heavyweight title picture on Friday nights, and a win over a former WWE and ECW Champion would bolster his case to face the winner of the CM Punk - Jeff Hardy World title showdown at Night of Champions. Keeping Kane on-guard with fast solid offense, Morrison soon found himself on the receiving end of a healthy dose of punishment, as Kane took control and dominated throughout the majority of this match-up. Struggling back, Morrison had the Big Red Machine reeling, but the big man would find a shortcut soon enough, launching a chair into Morrison's flight path as he dove from the top to the outside, drawing a disqualification for Kane! Not satisfied, Kane further battered the successful Morrison, only to barely escape The Great Khali, still hellbent on revenge after steel chair attacks by the equally massive Kane in recent weeks! A confrontation between these two behemoths is on the horizon, and when it finally goes down, no one will be able to predict who will be standing on top when the dust settles! ![]() Come join Thomas Keister and "The Internet Legend" ppdingles for an all-new episode of the late night talk radio fiasco - Probably Uncalled For! Tonight, they'll be discussing cell phones supposedly causing cancer...again, the bad and the ugly with McDonalds, Wal Mart, the return of Stupid Britain, Sarah Palin, Mark Sanford, the stimulus mess, pillows, hot change, giant squids, and all the other TBD crap that will probably kill you if you don't stay home, lock all the doors, and log on tonight to listen to the show! Phones and chat room open the duration of the broadcast! all-new live episode LIVE tonight!!! 11pm Eastern/8pm Pacific BlogTalkRadio .com /ProbablyUncalledFor ![]() by Thomas Keister ECW on Syfy originated from Richmond, Virginia as Night of Champions quickly approaches. With only one championship to defend on the annual event, the focus hung on Tommy Dreamer's ECW Championship match with Christian. New Superstar Initiative Pays Dividends ECW newcomer Yoshi Tatsu had perhaps his biggest challenge to date since joining the roster under the New Superstar Initiative, facing the time-tested veteran William Regal in the evening's opening match-up. Tatsu used his impressive speed, agility, and flexibility to match Regal move for move in the early goings. A stiff clothesline from Regal put him in the driver's seat, as he employed ground holds and multiple pin attempts to grind Tatsu down. Battling back with his Japanese strong style arsenal, Tatsu survived an ill-fated top rope attempts to snag the pin for unarguably the biggest win of his young ECW career. Jackson and Benjamin Shine in mid-card Action Ezekiel Jackson made his way to ringside to square off with Mike Williams, making his second appearance on ECW. In the time it took for you to read that sentence, the erstwhile bodyguard for The Brian Kendrick had already dismantled and pinned Williams. In an intriguing twist, Vladimir Koslov hit the ring, stared down the equally massive Jackson, then destroyed Williams himself. I can not say I know where they are going with this, but I hope it results in a one-on-one match between the big men! Goldust looked to continue his recent success as a new member of the ECW roster with a win over "The Gold Standard" Sheldon Benjamin. As the bell sounded, Benjamin came out swinging, looking to climb the ladder towards a possible ECW title shot. Quickly evening the odds, the wiley veteran relied on vintage offense, but Benjamin was not to be denied, hitting Paydirt for the victory in a competitive, fast-paced encounter. Tyson Reks Makes successful ECW in-ring Debut Paul Burchill is a wrestler lost in the shuffle, and while a win would certainly help Burchill, a loss could very well prove devastating for the Brit. Opposing him in the evening's marquee match was the debuting Tyson Reks. Joining Burchill at ringside was his sister, Katie Lea, which never makes wrestling the "Ripper" a walk in the park. Firing up right from the opening bell, Reks overwhelmed Burchill, but distraction from the outside quickly reversed course for the exciting rookie. There's nothing pretty about Burchill's offense, but it is effective, and Burchill kept the pressure steady throughout the latter half of the match. Rallying back into contention with an impressive springboard dropkick, Reks hit a schoolboy roll-up to make his in-ring ECW debut a notable success! ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer Collides with Christian ECW's newest interview segment, The Abraham Washington Show, returned this week to close out this week's episode. Washington attempted to stir the pot between the two good friends in advance of their title match, mostly with pointed remarks towards Dreamer's weight and C-grade humor. As Christian started to get under the skin of the defending ECW Champion, the tension suddenly hit critical mass as Dreamer took a hard slap across the face from his Night of Champions challenger. Retaliating in kind, Dreamer got his point across that no one, not Abraham Washington, and not Christian, were going to get over on him in this setting. Decorum ended up winning out in the end, but one can only speculate as to the subtext this adds to the ECW Championship match coming up on pay-per-view this Sunday night! ![]() photo by David Seto, 2008 by Thomas Keister North Carolina State University played host to the last edition of Monday Night Raw before Night of Champions July 26. Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Billy Gibbons and Dusty Hill of ZZ Top served as the guest hosts for the evening. Big Show, Jerry Lawler Make big Statements during first Hour In a preview of the United States title match at Night of Champions, The Big Show, Jack Swagger, and Carlito joined forces to face off with U.S. Champion Kofi Kingston, Primo, and MVP in six-man tag action. While Kingston's side scored the win, The Big Show made a major statement that he was the man to beat heading into Sunday night's 6 Pack Challenge for the U.S. Title by absolutely destroying all 5 men and leaving the ring cluttered with bodies! The Brian Kendrick would then attempt to state his case as to why he should be picked by Chris Jericho as the replacement half of the Unified WWE Tag Team Champions, but one offhand remark by Kendrick to Hall of Famer Jerry Lawer led to an impromptu match between the two! While Kendrick utilized his speed, the legendary King of Memphis would take the three-count following a vintage fist drop from the middle rope. ZZ Top Deliver Chris Jericho and Chavo Guerrero a Comeuppance Chris Jericho probably left Raw a bit less a fan of ZZ Top than when he came in, after learning that his opponent for the evening would be the resurgent "World's Strongest Man," Mark Henry. As one could expect, Jericho just could not answer the size and strength advantage, and Henry would leave with the winner's share of the purse. In a throwback to classic WWE, Gibbons and Hill booked Chavo Guerrero to face Hornswoggle in a "Sharp Dressed Man," essentially their branding of an old-school tuxedo match. Equally classic was the comic angle where Guerrero's pants legs were sown together, making a victory for his trial-sized opponent quick and humorous, as Chavo wound up displaying his chile pepper Joe Boxers to a delighted house! Kelly Kelly and Gail Kim Highlight Divas Action The Divas would present a tag team match tonight, as Kelly Kelly and Gail Kim teamed to test the pairing of Rosa Mendes and Alicia Fox. Hey, three Divas and an actual wrestler (although Kelly Kelly has shown marked improvement in recent months). A brief but solid beer match as Alicia Fox pins Kelly Kelly to take the victory. Legacy Comes up short in Quest to Weaken WWE Champion's Opponents In the much-hyped main event, Triple H and John Cena teamed up to battle Legacy in a 3-on-2 handicap match! WWE Champion Randy Orton had added himself to the match, joining his Legacy proteges Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase to try and soften up his triple threat title defense opponents in advance of Night of Champions, and was definitely planning to make this more successful than last week's main event. In a solid, but slightly pedestrian match-up, Cena and HHH would use the crowd advantage to overwhelm Legacy early, but once the power trio gained the advantage, they wrestled to their pedigrees, cutting the ring in half, and using quick tags to relentlessly batter Triple H and put his effectiveness in doubt for the championship main event at Night of Champions. Gaining the tag, Cena quickly turned the tide, and after order broke down and all five men were involved, Cena timed his shot just right, rolling up Orton for the pin, and a personal measure of momentum as he pursues the WWE Championship. by ppdingles by Thomas Keister WWE SmackDown review - 7/17/09 07/17/2009
![]() by Thomas Keister Miami, Florida hosted tonight's WWE SmackDown broadcast, in the lead-up to July 26's Night of Champions pay-per-view. Jeff Hardy, who will challenge CM Punk for the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions, went to the ring to start the show, but in the midst of his promo and video clips catching the audience up on their growing feud, the champion arrived to interrupt. Punk, in the middle of a conversion to a heel, went personal with Hardy, mocking him for not failing a drug test in a year, and saying they should get started on his "Hall of Fame" speech. Finally having heard enough, Hardy got physical, but from the look in Punk's eyes, this was not the end for the evening. Trouble continues for the World Champion Returning from the break, the World Champion was back in action as CM Punk was set to meet John Morrison in a rematch from their outstanding match a couple of weeks ago, and once again the crowd was not disappointed. Both competitors are blue chippers, and while Punk tried to use a ground game to nullify the explosive offense of Morrison, the match was puncuated with counters and reversals throughout, including Morrison defeating the champ for the second time in a row in non-title action! In a telling gesture, Punk refused Morrison's handshake following the match. It is time to consider a title shot for Morrison after Night of Champions. R-Truth, who has been seeing his gimmick undergo fine-tuning by WWE creative recently, had no better luck this week out, as his opponent, Kane, was back on SmackDown with a vengeance. While R-Truth rallied on more than one occasion, he just could not get in gear, and fell victim to a three-count after the big man countered an aerial move with a big boot. In a match spun off from the previous night's WWE Superstars, The Hart Dynasty met Cryme Tyme and Eve Torres in a mixed 6-man tag match. Nothing remarkable about this match, which is roughly the same thing you can say about almost any mixed 6-man tag. The Hart Dynasty wins after Natalya pins Eve. After a video screen confrontation between WWE Unified Tag Team Champion Chris Jericho and his now-former partner Edge to set up a series of matches between them down the road, Jericho teamed with Dolph Ziggler (whom I believe Jericho is going to pick as his new championship partner) to square off with Intercontinental Champion Rey Mysterio and Jeff Hardy. Hardy and Jericho would start out, with Hardy maintaining an edge until Jericho dropkicked him from the ring. The Champ makes a statement Returning from the break, it was Ziggler wearing down Hardy, as they began isolating Hardy and pouring on the abuse. Mysterio would get the hot tag, cleaning house until an excellent blind tag nearly led to a win for Jericho and the brash newcomer. As action spilled to the ringside area, Hardy and Punk would stare down, with Punk then launching Jericho into Hardy, crashing him into the ring steps and forcing the ref to throw out the match! Jericho was not done with Hardy however, throwing him back into the ring for a codebreaker followed by a long Walls of Jericho. CM Punk watched briefly before exiting, and the show closed with Hardy in the ring trying to recover. As Night of Champions approaches, it is becoming more and more clear that CM Punk enjoys the respect of the fans, but he enjoys the World Heavyweight title even more, and that passion could led to major problems for Jeff Hardy. ![]() by Thomas Keister A preview of TNA Wrestling's Victory Road event, live on pay-per-view from The Impact! Zone in Orlando, Florida this Sunday, July 19. The line-up features nine matches, including five championship contests. Matt Morgan vs. Daniels - "The Blueprint" has stalled out in TNA, although at least he has lost the stuttering gimmick from back in the day. A win over Daniels would definitely increase Morgan's stock value, and for one, I would not be surprised to see the Main Even Mafia play a factor in this match. Abyss vs. Dr. Stevie - I am holding out hope that this match is going to be the culmination of this storyline, but with the recent return of Raven, something tells me this is gonna run for a few more weeks. Expect Abyss to win the match, and lose after the bell. Samoa Joe vs. Sting - The big draw for this match has been the revelation of Samoa Joe's mysterious advisor, but following the end of last Thursday's Impact!, when the "FTW" logo was displayed, leaves no doubt legendary former ECW World Champion Taz will be in Joe's corner Sunday night. That alone makes this match just that much more anti-climatic. New Japan Tag Team Championship: Team 3D defends against The British Invasion - I must say, I am impressed by The British Invasion. It has been a bit since we've had a good Brit heel faction, and these three men are more than capable of filling the bill. This one's a toss-up to me, leaning toward the Brits to up-end the champs. Spotlight on the Knockouts. Sharmell vs. Jenna Morasca - A valet squaring off against yet another reality show personality. I'm not even sure it is fair to call this a Knockouts match. While TNA normally has the strongest womens division in mainstream pro wrestling, this is the definition of the phrase "beer match." TNA Knockouts Championship: Tara defends against Angelina Love - Tara has made quite a name for herself in a short matter of time since debuting in TNA, as evidenced by the Knockouts title around her waist. While there has been some dispute on this belt, Tara is my pick to answer the question once and for all in this match. I do not think Love and the rest of the Beautiful People have an answer to Tara's mindgames. The Main Event Mafia goes for the gold. TNA World Tag Team Championship: Beer Money, Inc. defends against Scott Steiner and Booker T - With three TNA World Tag Team titles to their credit, it is entirely fair to put Beer Money on the short list of greatest tag teams in TNA history. With the laundry list of tag team accolades Scott Steiner and Booker T have on ther resumes, the only way you can refer to this is as a super team. This is my personal pick to steal the show. TNA Legends Championship AJ Styles defends against Kevin Nash - This match, in my opinion, offers the best chance yet for Kevin Nash to win his first TNA championship, and why not the Legends title? AJ Styles will not come out of this match with the winner's share of the purse. TNA World Heavyweight Championship: Kurt Angle defends against Mick Foley - Mick Foley has provided some memorable (and less than memorable) moments since adding member of the roster to his executive shareholder role, but I can not be the only one who thinks the novelty has worn off, especially in Foley's once-legendary promos. Kurt Angle will retain the belt, but not without controversy. |
