WWE Superstars offered fans three solid matches as Night of Champions quickly approaches, highlighted by ECW Championship contender Christian. Rounding out the action was a fine showcase between two cruiserweight talents, and John Morrison looking to continue the roll he's been on as of late.

ECW's Christian and William Regal Electrify Crowd

Opening the evening's action, Christian found himself across the ring from the seasoned veteran, William Regal, but his mind was definitely focused in on his title bout with ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer in a mere three days. Regal, still stinging from his loss to newcomer Yoshi Tatsu Tuesday night on ECW, was out to right the ship at all costs, and a win over Christian would assuredly bump up Regal's stock as a potential contender for the ECW Championship.

In a contest chock-full of technical offense by William Regal, Christian looked a step behind throughout, and one could speculate his focus was a bit off. Regal turned his offense up to 11, answering every attempt by his opponent to get back into the match. In an exciting and unexpected finish, Christian rallied back for the victory, hitting a middle-rope Sunset Flip for the pinfall. The lack of focus Christian fought through tonight could serve to be his undoing, should it come back Sunday at Night of Champions, and ECW Champion Tommy Dreamer was no doubt scouting this encounter, looking for a weakness to exploit.

Raw's Bourne, Noble Showcase Speed, Technical Prowess

For wrestling fans who consider themselves purists, the Monday Night Raw offering of Evan "Air" Bourne versus Jamie Noble harkened back to the days of the Cruiserweight division. While those days are long gone, this match featuring Bourne, an exciting high-flyer and Noble, a technically-grounded former Cruiserweight Champion on numerous occasions, had all the trimmings of a mat classic.

Noble put up a game effort, often relying on his at-times relentless offense, but in the end, Bourne's aerial arsenal proved to be too much to handle, and Noble finished his evening looking at the lights as Bourne gained the three-count following his "Airbourne" shooting star press.

SmackDown Main Event features Kane Battling Morrison

Kane, who has looked dominant since his re-emergence onto the SmackDown scene (when not facing off with The Great Khali, that is), looked to make a statement by imposing his physical will on the red-hot John Morrison in main event action. Morrison, who has not lost a step since parting ways with tag team championship partner The Miz, has positioned himself on the edge of the World Heavyweight title picture on Friday nights, and a win over a former WWE and ECW Champion would bolster his case to face the winner of the CM Punk - Jeff Hardy World title showdown at Night of Champions.

Keeping Kane on-guard with fast solid offense, Morrison soon found himself on the receiving end of a healthy dose of punishment, as Kane took control and dominated throughout the majority of this match-up. Struggling back, Morrison had the Big Red Machine reeling, but the big man would find a shortcut soon enough, launching a chair into Morrison's flight path as he dove from the top to the outside, drawing a disqualification for Kane!

Not satisfied, Kane further battered the successful Morrison, only to barely escape The Great Khali, still hellbent on revenge after steel chair attacks by the equally massive Kane in recent weeks! A confrontation between these two behemoths is on the horizon, and when it finally goes down, no one will be able to predict who will be standing on top when the dust settles!
