As we mentioned on Probably Uncalled For a few months back, New Zealand taekwondo artist Logan Campbell had established a legal brothel in Auckland to help fund his bid to compete in the 2012 London Olympic Games. What an innovator. Campbell and a business partner had opened the gentlemen's club in order in raise $300,000 without having to hit up his parents for money.

Olympic officials in New Zealand have predictably bunched their panties hard and tight over this. The New Zealand Olympic Committee has now demanded that Campbell sever his ties with the brothel or face legal actions.

What a load of horseshit. The laws regarding prostitution in New Zealand are pretty liberal, and opening and operating a brothel is perfectly, completely, 100% legal. What gives any organization the right to exclude someone from an activity for merely investing in and profiting from a legal business venture? I mean, it's not like the guy is selling black tar heroin on a street corner somewhere and burying the proceeds in his backyard until 2012.

NZOC muckety muck Barry Maister said he does not want New Zealand's sport to be associated with Campbell's trade. Slow your roll, Barry. Campbell is not, in so far as I know or have read, a prostitute. He is a businessman and a taekwondo practitioner. For an organization involved with the Olympics to be worried about image is kind of like being Paris Hilton and worrying about image. I mean, when we are talking about the Olympics, all you got to do is scrape away the  politics, the corruption, the excess, and the other 98 percent of the bullshit, and then you got something. Right now, you got the Olympics as they are, and if you should worry about any whores involved with the Olympics, Mr. Maister, you should start at the top and work backwards. Get back to me on that, will you?
